The blistering heat in Austria is very apparent throughout the Paddock, with tyres, engine maps and aero compromises all going to be big factors for this afternoons qualifying session.
Q1 the first 5 drivers knocked out of the session :
16th Sergio Perez (Racing Point)
17th Lance Stroll (Racing Point)
18th Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso)
19th George Russell (Williams)
20th Robert Kubica (Williams)
Ferrari looking extremely strong and looks at good balance.
Just as Ferrari showed good pace, Sebastian Vettel’s Car is in the garage with engine covers off.
Q2 Casualties :
11th Romain Grosjean (Haas)
12th Nico Hulkenberg (Renault)
13th Alexander Albon (Toro Rosso)
14th Daniel Ricciardo (Renault)
15th Carlos Sainz (McLaren)
So into Q3, with Sebastian’s car still having work done, Mercedes will they turn the engine maps up?
Lewis Hamilton under investigation for impending Kimi Raikkonen in his Alfa Romeo (waiting FIA decision)
Sebastian Vettel, out Of Q3 with no time set, as his Ferrari has suspected hydraulic leak.
Later to be confirmed by Ferrari as a air pressure fault. (Pneumatic Engine Valves)
Charles Leclerc takes Pole Position for Tomorrow’s Austrian Grand Prix with a new lap record of 1.03.003
Sundays Race and grid position is still not 100% as Lewis and Kimi are still under investigation.
With ambient temperatures above 35’C for tomorrow’s race . It is an unknown race for once this year.
Max Verstappen in 3rd and the Alfa Romeo’s in 7th and 8th and to make that even better a McLaren of Lando Norris in 6th we are hoping for a fantastic race on Sunday Afternoon.
