Monaco Grand Prix Qualifying:

By Harry Schofield:

Charles Leclerc was the first casualty of Q1 as he did not make it into Q2, he will now start the Monaco Grand Prix in a disappointing 16th position on the grid.

Ferrari team  strategy was in question as he should have been sent out for another run, but the team  did not react to the track conditions.

I suspect Ferrari might be nursing a problem with an engine and may well change the unit  overnight and start from  the pit lane tomorrow but this is just a probability and not confirmed .

A disappointing Q2 for Alfa Romeo with Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi starting 14th and 15th respectively .

Kimi’s 300th race this weekend at Monaco he will start from 14th position on the grid, but being Monaco anything can happen and the Alfa Romeo team have a good car underneath them, so don't write Alfa Romeo off for a podium.

Lewis Hamilton maintained Mercedes dominance and claimed pole position for the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix as Sebastian Vettel hit the barrier at Tabac corner and cost him track position.

Valtteri Bottas who claimed 2nd position behind Lewis Hamilton sets the way the race will progress, but being Monaco and with the hard charging Max Verstappen in 3rd place on the grid it will be an exciting start to tomorrows race.

The Red Bull looks extremely well balanced car and I’m sure going into Ste Devote Max will try and overtake the two Mercedes .

Its a shame for Charles but lets see what happens overnight in the Ferrari garage, will it be team strategy  or they were nursing a potential problem.

There is a 60% chance of rain tomorrow so will wait in anticipation for what is set to be a fantastic Monaco Grand prix.
